Daughter of George Washington Harris and Eliza Jane Bawkey, formerly called Tolia Harris, (due to scrawl on census records) has now been identified as Zola V. Harris. Well, actually Zola Violate Krasso, according to an unknown source at FamilySearch. Other records go as far as confirming Zola V. Krasso. I suspect V. may stand for Violet not Violate.
A question remains – Did she marry Krasso after her first husband died? Or did she revert to her birth name? She lived to 98 so she had plenty of time to confuse us. (Update: co-researcher has found a Chas. Krasso in an old phone book.)
On another note – Hiram Harris and Sarah E. Russell had a son, George W. in 1883, which just goes to show (after many years of wondering) that they probably did get married in 1882 as their marriage certificate says and Hiram did not die in 1874 as a multi-person gravestone says.
On the other hand, the Hiram who married Sarah Russell may not be related at all. There’s another Hiram Harris, also born in 1857, in Darke Co., OH who may have gotten married in Erie Co. just to keep the mystery going. We’ve decided on the latter.
