More Notes

25 February 2007

Sometimes … well, ok, most of the time … my mind is ticking away on 20 to 30 different plans, problems, ideas and possible solutions. I don’t know how a mind can handle that simultaneously but mine does. If another useful thought whizzes by I have to snatch it in a nano-second or it’s gone. If this sounds familiar, enter the lowly post-it note.

Creativity with a PDF Editor

20 February 2007

Before there was Passage Express I could not imagine organizing so many files and types of files for presentation.

Then, in the middle of the night it came to me. I would create Descendants Book reports in pdf and attach other files in the margin. This way a reader could take a side-trip to look at maps, photos, slideshows, related stories, or even listen to me talk, and then come back to the main body of work without getting lost.

Clipboard Extenders

16 February 2007

World Vital Records

3 February 2007

World Vital Records has a 2 for 1 sale until February 10th, a 2-year subscription for the price of 1. Geo Mapping, International Records, SmallTownPapers, Online Genealogy Classes and Training, Genealogy Blog Planet, newsletter and more. $49.95. WVR now includes Everton’s Genealogical Helper, available at a 40% discount. Now’s the time.

They are in the process of scanning the last 60 years of the Genealogy Helper magazine into their database and, although I’m not sure, it looks like that will also be included in the annual subscription of WVR.

Moons & Merges

2 February 2007

Legacy Family TreeAs we enter another Full Moon my eyes grow wide like saucers. Another thing that makes my eyes wide is TNG, moons or not. The Next Generation. I came across this a long time ago but I was rushing off to somewhere else, so as things go on the Internet it can take some time to come back around. If only I needed another thing on my plate these days. If you have not seen this, please go see it now. It may be just the thing you’ve been hoping for.

It’s a bit of a bite and more than some will want to chew. My database is a joint effort so I’d have to discuss this with my fellow travelers. And I’d like to straighten out some things in the database some more, yada yada, so I have issues, but TNG holds delicious possibilities. …[continued]
