Has it really been 12 days since I wrote anything here?
Every once in awhile I’m looking at the website stats and I see people looking for me. People around the planet are actually waiting for me to say something. That is one nerve-wracking thing to realize.
I’ve seen bloggers who up and disappear from their blogs for months or years without another word. The blog dangles out there in space waiting for someone to trip over it. What’s the responsible way to exit? How does one know if one is exiting or just busy and for how long? Every time I make a conscious decision to simplify my life everything goes in the opposite direction. I should stop thinking that thought and just embrace Chaos.

You think as soon as you cross the border from the U. S. there’s a wall of ice. Don’t lie. I’ve been 100 miles across the border and people always ask me how’s the weather up in Canada? I say it’s about the same as here, I didn’t come from the North Pole you know and they look at me as if to say, yeah, but it’s Canada, how can it be the same as here? We’re the U-S of A, we’re not Canada.

The other day someone was complaining at the Legacy User Group about how many clicks it took to back up her Legacy file since she didn’t want to use her mouse, just keyboard shortcuts.

After more than a month harping on about JLiki I feel like I must have been talking in a vacuum. I know some of you read through from beginning to end but it’s so quiet out there. (I expected a parade.)
After almost two years of thinking out loud, this feels like the end of the road for me, organization-wise. My genealogy computer life has gone from increasingly complicated to flat-out simple in about a minute. In the end my main interest is output because why else am I doing this? If just to entertain myself, it wouldn’t be enough. Everything else is on the path to getting there.

First, like many of us, I’ve done a lot of research in what could only be called a ‘disorganized’ fashion. If something starts playing on my mind I’ll jump into the Internet and start looking. Chances are I’ll be side-tracked all over the place and come out a few hours later with all kinds of things that never would have occurred to me to look for.
